Viking shield with carved Odin's Raven symbols Huginn and Muninn

This piece features Odin's Raven symbols Huginn and Muninn, carved into the plywood, steel bolts on the rim, and hand-hammered umbo, and it comes with a plywood handlebar installed on the back.

In Norse mythology, Huginn and Muninn are a pair of ravens that fly all over the world, Midgard, and bring information to the god Odin. Huginn and Muninn are attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources: the Prose Edda and Heimskringla, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson; in the Third Grammatical Treatise, compiled in the 13th century by Óláfr Þórðarson; and in the poetry of skalds. The names of the ravens are sometimes modernly anglicized as Hugin and Munin.

The shield is made out of 15mm thick birch plywood and finished with the painting, as well as staining and varnishing with linen seed oil.
The shield can be used as a decorative wall hanger or as a functional piece for medieval reenactment or LARP.
